I almost cried at a bar…

…and it’s not because the stall was out of toilet paper. (More on that later).

Last weekend, I went out with a bunch of friends. It was a going away party for one of the girls who’s moving. Anyways, we went to Lucille’s Rockin’ Pianos. If you’ve never been there, you don’t know what you’re missing. Lucille’s is a great place to go if you like live music, good drinks and public mockery.

Anyways, it’s one of those places where you can request songs…and there was a group of people who requested a song in honor of son/brother/nephew who just got back from Iraq. The pianists/singers called the guy up to the stage and the entire bar got up on their feet and started clapping. Those near the guy gave him hugs, pats on the back and shook his hand. One of the pianists pulled out an American flag and had the soldier help him hold it while the other guy played “God Bless the USA” and the entire place sang. The soldier’s family were crying and beaming with pride.

One of the performers put it perfectly when he said, “You know, it doesn’t matter who you voted for in the last election or what you think about the war… you gotta be thankful for the men and women who put their lives on the line for us all.”

Amen.

PS- about the TP story… One of my friends and I went to the restroom. Once we had already started you know… we realized that both of our stalls were without the TP. My friend started saying, “Towel lady… hey…towel lady… we have a situation.” When no one responded, I decided to take one for the team…and find us some TP.

kbye.
